YouTube video: William Boling busts out with a bad beat

On a T♠9♣J♦ flop, Spiro Mitrokostas moved all in, having William Boling covered. William made the call saying, "I have outs." William had flopped two pair with his J♣9♦, so it was Spiro who was drawing to the best hand with his A♠A♣. The 4♠ turn changed nothing, but the T♦ on the river counterfeited William's two pair to give Spiro a better two pair. William will exit this tournament in 8th place, good for $10,308.

9th Place: Yadong Pan ($8,093)

Yadong Pan got coolered to bust out of this event in 9th place, picking up [Kh][Kd] against Daniel Chan's [Ah][Ad].  To make things worse, Daniel flopped top set when the flop fell [Td][7h][As], and Yadong was drawing dead on the [8s] turn.  The [2d] hit the river, and Yadong was sent to the payout desk to collect his $8,093.

10th Place: Reuben Peters ($6,013)

On the second hand of our final table, Reuben Peters moved all in and was called by Yadong Pan.  Reuben was ahead with the [6h][6d], but was in a race against Yadong's [As][Js].  The flop fell [4h][4c][Ac], leaving Reuben needing one of the two remaining sixes to survive.  The turn [8h] and river [Tc] were not what he was looking for, however, and he will exit this tournament in 10th place.  Reuben will collect $6,013 for his efforts.

YouTube video: $400 Mega Stack final hand

The final hand is dealt in the $400 Mega Stack, in which Terrence Hinchliffe wins a race against 2nd place finisher Mike Nye. Terrence wins $25,18, the title, and the trophy.

Click here to view the video in HD

1st Place: Terrence Hinchliffe ($25,182)

The final hand was a race between Terrence Hinchliffe, who had a massive chip over his opponent Mike Nye.

Terrence [Ad][Jc]
Mike [7s][7c]

The flop was favorable for Mike when it fell [6s][9d][8d].  The [6d] turn gave Terrence a backdoor flush draw to go along with his two overs.  Continuing to run well, Terrence hit the [4d] to make the flush and win the $400 Mega Stack.

Terrence will collect $25,182 as well as the trophy and the title for his amazing final table performance.

2nd Place: Mike Nye ($14,571)

3rd Place: Nikki DeFrancesco ($9,291)

Terrence Hinchliffe raised preflop before Nikki DeFrancesco moved all in.  Terrence made the call with [Qc][Js], and was a slight underdog to Nikki's [Ac][9h].  Lady luck continued to smile upon Terrence when the flop fell [9s][5c][Jd].  The [8s] turn changed nothing, and Nikki would need to catch an ace or a nine to survive.  It was not to be, as the dealer peeled off the [2d] on the river.  Nikki will earn $9,291 for her 3rd place finish.

4th Place: Walter Warot ($7,444)

Walter Warot was all in on a [Th][7h][Ts][Ac] holding [Ad][4s].  Unfortunately for him, Terrence Hinchliffe had flopped trips with his [Td][3d].  Walter would need one of the two remaining aces to survive, but the [5h] hit the river to eliminate Walter in 4th place.  He will earn $7,444 for his efforts.

5th Place: Silvio Mantuano ($5,807)

After taking a bad beat the previous hand to Mike Nyte, Silvio moved all in on the button and was called by Nikki DeFrancesco in the big blind.  Silvio had live cards with the [9d][8h] against Nikki's [Ah][7d].  Nikki's hand was ahead through the [Ad][Qs][Ts] flop, but Silvio did pick up a gutshot straight draw.  That draw failed to materialize on the [5h] turn and [7s] river, and he will exit this tournament in 5th place.  He will earn $5,807 for his efforts.

Mike Nye doubles through Silvio Mantuano

Mike Nye moved all in from the button, and Silvio Mantuano made the call from the small blind.  Mike was dominated with [Tc][9c] against Silvio's [Ad][9d], but Mike seemed to have confidence in his hand.  After asking the dealer to rearrange his cards so the ten was closest to the flop, Mike flopped two pair on the [Ts][9s][Jc].  The [7d] on the turn left Mike dodging an 8 to chop or an ace for a bigger two pair.  When the river fell the [7h], Mike escaped elimination and doubled up to approximately 1.5 million.

6th Place: Tony "Muscles" Campagna ($4,699)

Terrence Hinchliffe opened the pot with a raise on the button.  Tony "Muscles" Campagna moved all in from the big blind, and Terrence made the call.  The two exposed their hands:

Tony [Ad][5h]
Terrence [Ac][Tc]

Tony was going to need a five to survive.  Unfortunately for him, the flop fell [Ah][Th][3d], leaving Tony drawing to runner runner.  The [Qc] on the turn left him drawing to one of the three remaining queens to chop the pot.  But the [Jh] hit the river, sending Tony to the rail in 6th place, good for $4,699.

Blinds increased, chips counted

The blind are now up to 25,000/50,000 with a 5,000 ante.  With 6 players remaining, the average stack is just over 1,000,000.  Here are approximate chip counts:

Seat 2: Nikki DeFrancesco - 650,000
Seat 3: Tony "Muscles" Campagna - 700,000
Seat 5: Walter Warot - 1,400,000
Seat 7: Mike Nye - 700,000
Seat 8: Silvio Mantuano - 1,450,000
Seat 9: Terrence Hinchliffe - 1,300,000

Nikki DeFrancesco doubles through Terrence Hinchliffe

Terrence Hinchliffe raised preflop on the button before Nikki DeFrancesco moved all in.  Terrence made the call holding [As][Jc], but Nikki was in great shape with the [Ah][Qs].  Everything changed on the [6h][Jd][6d] flop, and Nikki was now drawing to a 3-outer.  She didn't have to wait long, as the dealer peeled off the [Qd] on the turn.  Now Terrence needed a 2-outer to eliminate Nikki.  The [Kd] on the river left Nikki holding the winning hand, and she will double up to almost 700,000.

7th Place: Floyd Overton ($3,906)

Floyd Overton was all in preflop holding the [Ad][Qh] against the [Kh][Js] of Tony "Muscles" Campagna.  Tony smashed the flop when it fell [Jc][Jd][Td], and Floyd was left drawing to runner runner queens or aces to make a full house (a king would make Floyd a straight, but Tony would make a full house).  The [7c] turn left Floyd drawing dead, and the meaningless [4d] on the river left Floyd heading to the payout desk to collect $3,906 for his 7th place finish.

8th Place: Isaiah Cannata ($3,168)

After Terrence Hinchliffe raised preflop, Isaiah Cannata moved all in.  Terrence made the call holdind [Ah][Ac], which had Isarah's [Kc][Qs] in pretty bad shape.  Isaiah had hope after the [Jh][Ks][2h] flop, but failed to hit two pair on the [7h] turn or [5c] river.  Isaiah will earn $3,168 for his 8th place finish.

Nikki DeFrancesco doubles through Tony Campagna

Nikki DeFrancesco got the last of her stack in with a shove on the button and was called by Tony "Muscles" Campagna.  Tony had made the call with [Qs][9c], but Nikki woke up with a hand as she held the [Ad][Qc].  Both flopped a pair on the [5h][9s][Ac] flop, and no two outer came on the [3h] turn or [7h] river.  Nikki is still short stacked, but she is still in the game!

Terrence Hinchliffe doubles through Nikki DeFrancesco

Terrence Hinchliffe was all in preflop holding the [Ad][Ac] against the [As][Qs] of Nikki DeFrancesco.  Terrence's aces held up to double him to over 1.1 million, while Nikki is left with just over 100,000.

9th Place: Regina Brown ($2,604)

On a flop of J-8-3, Regina Brown was all in holding the A-J and was up against a set of treys.  Regina did not hit her miracle full house, and she will exit this tournament in 9th place, good for $2,604.

10th Place: Nick Bennett ($1,794)

Nick Bennett pushed the last of his short stack in preflop with K-J and was called by pocket aces.  Nick did not improve and will exit this tournament in 10th place, good for $1,794.

The bad beat table

While the tournament is nearing the money, we noticed one table that seems to have a tendency to dish out bad beats.

On the first hand we witnessed, a player was all in with pocket aces against pocket kings, for a 200,000 chip pot.  A king spiked on the turn and the field was down one.

On another rollercoaster hand, there was a three way all in, again with aces and kings, and a third player with less chips had pocket nines.  A nine flopped, and then the kings made a runner runner flush.  Many players in the tournament were crowded around the table to witness that brutal beat.

Players are now on break

The 70 remaining players are now on break.  The tournament staff is coloring up and racing off the 100 chips.  When the field returns, they will be playing 2,000/4,000 blinds with a 500 ante.  Top 35 players will make the money.

Players are back from dinner break

The remaining 98 players are now back from dinner break.  The field is now playing 1,200/2,400 blinds with a 30 ante.

Players are now on dinner break

The 98 remaining players are now on their 60 minute dinner break.  Play will resume at approximately 7:10pm EST.  When they return, blinds will be 1,200/2,400 with a 300 ante.

Players are now on break

The 130 remaining players are now on a 10 minute break.  When they return, they will be playing 1,000/2,000 blinds with a 300 ante.  The field will play one more level and then go on a one hour dinner break.

Wednesday, May 16, 2012

1st Place: Glenn McCaffrey ($20,348)

Felipe Villagran moved all in from the button and Glenn McCaffrey instacalled, showing [Ts][Td].  Felipe would need some help as he held [Ad][7h].  Things got worse for Felipe as the flop fell [Th][7c][6c], and the [Kh] on the turn left Felipe drawing dead.  The meaningless [4c] fell on the river, and Felipe earned $11,325 for 2nd place.

Glenn McCaffrey will earn $20,348 for his 1st place finish, as well as the title and the trophy.

2nd Place: Felipe Villagran ($11,325)

Heads up chip counts

The $500 Six Handed is now heads up.  Here are the chip counts for our two opponents:

Seat 1: Felipe Villagran - 1,225,000
Seat 2: Glenn McCaffrey - 2,250,000

3rd Place: Dan Chan ($7,872)

On the river with the board reading [Jd][2s][7c][Js][As], Dan Chan moved all in and was instacalled by Glenn McCaffrey, who exposed the [Ad][Jh].  Dan took a look back at his cards and mucked, eliminating him from the tournament.  He will earn $7,872 for his 3rd place finish.

Dan Chan doubles through Felipe Villagran

On the first hand back from break, Glenn McCaffrey folded the button, and Felipe Villagran moved all in from the small blind.  Dan Chan called all in from the big blind and showed the [Ah][Th], which was in a race against Felipe's [9h][9c].  Dan flopped two pair on the [Ad][Tc][4d] flop, and the two pair held up through the [3c] turn and the [Qc] river.  Dan has doubled up to approximately 700,000 while Felipe still over 1.2 million.

Players are on a color up break

Players are on a brief 5 minute minute break while the tournament staff colors up and races off the 1,000 chips.  When the players return, they will be playing 15,000/30,000 blinds with a 5,000 ante.

4th Place: David Grandieri ($5,489)

Action folded to Dan Chan in the small blind, who moved all in having David Grandieri covered.  David called and was way ahead with his A-9 against Dan's A-2.  David kept his lead by flopping a nine, leaving Dan drawing to runner runner flush.  The turn was the [9s], giving Dan his backdoor flush draw.  Unfortunately for David, the river brought a spade, and Dan won the pot with his [As].  David will earn $5,489 for his 4th place finish.

5th Place: Sherwin Agard ($5,343)

Sherwin Agard pushed all in from the button with A-9 and was called by Felipe Villagran in the big blind with pocket jacks.  Sherwin failed to improve his hand, and he will exit the tournament in 5th place, good for $5,343.

Payouts modified

The 5 remaining players in the $500 Six Handed have agreed to modify the 4th and 5th place payouts.  The full payouts are now as follows:

1st Place: $20,348
2nd Place: $11,325
3rd Place: $7,872
4th Place: $5,489
5th Place: $5,343

Players are now on break

The 5 remaining players are now on a 10 minute break.  When they return, they will be playing 12,000/24,000 with a 4,000 ante.

6th Place: Mike Pasquale ($3,496)

On the river, with the board reading [As][5h][Kd][3d][4c], Mike Pasquale checked to Felipe Villagran who moved all in.  Mike made the call, and Felipe showed him [Ad][Qs].  Mike mucked, and without much drama, he will head to the cage to collect $3,496 for his 6th place finish.

7th Place: Silvio Mantuano ($2,413)

Silvio Mantuano raised preflop and was reraised all in by Mike Pasquale.  Silvio eventually made the call holding K-Q and was in a race against Mike's pocket eights.  An eight on the flopped sealed the deal, and Silvio was heading to the rail.

However, after the dealer counted down Mike's stack, it was discovered that Silvio had one ante chip left.  He put that ante chip in the next hand and won with A-5 vs Mike's K-Q.  Unfortunately Silvio did not win the third hand, as he put his 6 chips in with 9-4 and lost to T-5.

Silvio will earn $2,413 for his 7th place finish.

Blinds are increased to 8,000/16,000 with a 2,000 ante

$500 Six Handed Final Table Is Under Way

The final 7 players in the $500 Six Handed have taken their seats and cards are in the air.  There is still 37 minutes and 32 seconds left in the 6,000/12,000 blinds.

May Mega Stack 2012, Event #7 - $500 No Limit Hold'em 6-Max Returning Players

$500 Six Handed Will Resume At 1pm

After some discussion about playing the event out tonight, the final 7 players decided to keep the tournament a two day structure.  They will return at 1pm EST to play down to a winner.  Seating assignments and chip counts will be posted shortly.

Final Table Is Reached!

With the elimination of the 8th place finisher, we are at our final table.  In a six handed tournament, the final table plays seven handed.  Here are the payouts for the final 7:

1st Place: $20,348
2nd Place: $11,325
3rd Place: $7,872
4th Place: $6,089
5th Place: $4,753
6th Place: $3,496
7th Place: $2,413

Play is stalled at 9 players

It's been two levels since we lost our 10th place finisher, and though we've seen a few all ins since, the short stack has always won.  Earlier, players were hoping to finish the tournament tonight rather than come back tomorrow, but since the tournament is stuck at 9 players, that seems unlikely.

On the bright side, the field did make a pay jump from $1,708 to $2,413 when they lost the 10th place finisher.

$500 Six Handed Is In The Money

Without even getting to hand-for-hand, two players were simultaneously knocked out when there were 20 players remaining.  Lacking much drama, the 18 remaining players are now in the money and are guaranteed $1,336.
