WSOP Casino Championship Explained

For the eighth year in a row, the World Series of Poker (WSOP) is holding the Global Casino Championship event.  The GCC is an invitation-only event, and has a guaranteed prizepool of $1,000,000. The winner of the GCC is also awarded a coveted WSOP  bracelet. The truly unique part about the GCC is that most players enter for free.


There are a few ways to win your free seat into the GCC:
  1. Win the Main Event at one of the Circuit stops during the season. 
  2. Win Casino Champion at one of the Circuit stops during the season. (EXPLAINED BELOW)
  3. Qualify for one of the 50 "at-large" spots (the overall 50-top point earners from all combined stops throughout the season.)
  4. Qualify at one of the International Circuit stops. 
In addition to the free seats, the following players may buy into the GCC tournament for $10,000:
  1. Anyone in the top 100 of the 2017 WSOP player-of-the-year race. 
  2. Any ring winner from the 2017-2018 season that did not otherwise qualify through points or casino champion titles.

T.G. raised to 50,000, Zhi Guo re-raised to 135,000, T.G. four-bet to 300,000, Guo five-bet to 720,000, and T.G. called.

The flop came 5♣3♣2.  T.G. checked, and Guo shoved all in, having T.G. covered.  T.G. went deep into the tank. After nearly three minutes, T.G. called, and waited for Guo, who slowly turned over the A♣, and then exposed the J.  T.G. showed K♣K.

"Great call," a few people at the table, and on the rail said to T.G.

But as soon as the A hit on the turn, T.G. put his hands on his head in frustration, and there were gasps heard around the room.

The Q♠ river did not improve T.G.'s hand, and he was eliminated from play, while hi Guo took the massive chip lead.

    John Sciacca Wins Event #4 ($580 Six-Max Event)

    John Sciacca - Winner Event #4 - $25,060

    After a tough heads-up battle, John Sciacca emerged victorious over Ilir Cenalia to win his first World Series of Poker Circuit ring in the $580 No-Limit Hold'em Six-Max tournament at Foxwoods Casino. Sciacca defeated a field of 179 entrants to win $25,060, and the gold ring.

    Sciacca is the owner of a car dealership, and plays $2/$5 No-Limit Hold'em to relax and have fun.


    "I love the competitiveness of the game. I usually play the high-hand days here at Foxwoods. It's recreational, I just do it to have fun. I love to play," Sciacca explained.
