Event 1: Heads Up Deal, Mark Shcumacher Wins the Trophy and $72,047

When the final two event one players began heads up the stacks were nearly even. They agreed to stop the clock and discuss and adjusted payout agreement.

It didn't take long before they struck a deal and agreed to divide the top two payouts evenly. Both players will be taking home $72,047. They then played for the trophy and Mark Schumacher came out on top.

They see a flop of 10♦️7♣️3♣️ and Smith is in great shape to double up as his pocket kings maintain the lead. The dealer burns and turns the 5♦️ and Schumacher spikes his two outer to take control of the hand.

Smith will need a river king only to survive but the A♥️ hits the river. Schumacher earns the pot and Smith is eliminated in third as a result of the brutal beat.

Mark Schumacher has been flying under the radar for much of the final table. He was near the bottom of the final table counts for much of the day but that is no longer the case.

Schumacher is now up to over 6,000,000 and has moved past Chris Smith in the chip counts with just three players left in the hunt.

There are still six Event 1 players remaining and they are now all guaranteed at least $14,051. Since the elimination of Carlo Sciannameo in 7th the pace of play has come to a crawl.

Most of the hands have not gone to showdown and the meaningful pots have been few and far between. With $92,327 up top the final six players are all treading cautiously as every pay jump is a meaningful one.

Event 5 of the Foxwoods Mega Stack Challenge was the $300 Big Stack NLH event. There were a total of 210 entries creating a prize pool of over $50,000 more than doubling the $25,000 guarantee.
