Event 1A: Ben Wei Leads the Final 30 Day 1A players

Stephen Saranteas bagged big on Day 1A with 520,000

Day 1A of the Foxwoods Poker Classic $600 NLH $500,000 Guaranteed drew a total of 293 entries. There are 30 players advancing to Day 2 and it's Ben Wei leading the way with 603,000.

Stephen Saranteas bagged big with 520,000 and Andrew Cooper will return near the top of the chip counts with 447,000.

The combined Day 1A-E survivors will return on Monday March 11 at 11 AM to resume Day 2 play. The returning players are all in the money and guaranteed at least $1,200 for their efforts.

Event 1A: Matt Solitro Bursts the Bubble

The action folds around to the player on the button and he moved all in for 42,000. Matt Solitro called from the small blind turning over A♥️Q♦️ and the button showed 6♦️6♣️.

The dealer fanned the 10♣️7♦️2♣️ flop and the button maintained his lead with his pocket sixes.

The A♦️ hit the turn and Solitro spiked his ace to take control of the hand. The 2♥️ river card sealed the deal for Solitro to earn him the pot and the knockout.

The remaining 36 Day 1A players are now all in the money and guaranteed at least $1,200 for their efforts.

We are down to the final 58 Day 1A players and we are inching closer to the money and it's Stephen Saranteas is leading the way with 400,000.

Victor Ramdin has just taken his seat here in our second Event 1 flight and he certainly knows a thing or two about Foxwoods tournament success. 

Ramdin's largest career score came right here at Foxwoods in 2006 after taking down the 431 entry $10,000 Foxwoods Championship NLH event.

Ramdin earned a staggering $1,331,889 and the trophy and the seasoned pro has now earned over $4,550,000 throughout his illustrious poker career. 

Event 1A: Dinner Break

The Day 1A players are now on a one hour dinner break and the black 100 denomination tournament chips are being taken out of play.

The field is thinning fast and there are just 64 players left in the hunt. The final 36 Day 1A players will all make the money and be guaranteed at least $1,200 for their efforts.

Day 1A play will conclude when there are 30 players remaining at which time they MUST SHOW A VALID I.D. before the bagging process begins.

Play will resume at approximately 8:05 PM and we will be taking a look at how theDay 1A chip stacks are shaping up.

The first Event 1 flight is down to under 100 players and as that flight is thinning the Day 1B turbo flight is picking up steam.

There are already over 50 entries and Day 1B registration will remain open until the start of Level 9 or approximately 8 PM. 

The Day 1B field is shaping up to be a tough one with some experience tournament pros already on the felt. 

Some of the early arrivals in our second flight include Mukul Pahuja, Pete Campo, Vinny Pahuja, Stacey Sullivan and David Mock just to name a few.

Bill Miller is heating up and he continues to add to his stack. After dragging in his latest pot Miller is up to about 125,000 and is one the bigger stacks in the room.

Miller has made a number of Foxwoods final tables throughout his career and will looking to add his first Foxwoods Poker title to his extensive poker resume.

With tournament registration now closed in our first Event 1 flight the field is thinning fast. There are plenty of big stacks starting to emerge and none bigger than Ken Golden's.

Golden chipped up early and he is showing no signs of slowing down. He is now sitting behid a massive stack of about 200,000 and that's good for the current Day 1A chip lead.

Event 1B: The Second $600 NLH $500,000 GTD Turbo Flight Kicks Off at 5 PM


There was a massive turnout for the first flight of the Foxwoods Poker Classic $600 NLH $500,000 Guaranteed event. The second (Turbo) flight will kickoff at 5 PM in the upstairs tournament area. 

The players will start with 25,000 in non-value tournament chips.

Levels 1-8 will last 20 minutes and levels 9+ will be 30 minutes. There is a high hand promotion through the first level of play. The highest hand dealt (minimum three of a kind) will receive their full tournament buy-in back, including entry fee.

This event is an unlimited re-entry event and Day 1B tournament registration and re-entry will remain open until the start of Level 9 (Approx. 8:00 PM).

Luke Vrabel joined the Day 1A field just after the second break of the day and he wasted no time putting his chips to work.

Vrabel check raised a 7♣️6♥️2♦️ flop and picked up one caller. The 10♦️ hit the turn and Vrabel tossed out another bet. The river was the 3♥️ and again Vrabel tossed out a bet.

His opponent called and Vrabel tabled 9♥️8♦️ for the nut straight. 

Vrabel has now more than doubled his starting stack with 55,000 and he's off to a red hot start here in our first Event 1 flight.

Luis Vazquez raised to 1,000 from under the gun and the player next to act called. With the action on Ken Golden he re-raised to 3,500 and both players called.

The dealer fanned the A♦️Q♣️2♦️ flop and Vazquez checked. The player in middle position bet 1,800 and Golden wasted no time raising to 5,000. 

Both players quickly folded and Golden added the pot to his stack.

There was already more than 5,000 in the main pot when we caught up to the heads up action on the A♥️K♦️10♥️7♣️ board.

The player checked to Dawn Wilensky who bet 4,000 and her opponent called. 

The river was the 10♠️ and again the player checked to Wilensky who tossed out a bet of 5,000. After giving it some thought he called and Wilensky announced "full house" turning over A♣️10♦️.

Her opponent cracked a smile tabling the same hand with A♠️10♣️ to chop the pot.
